Lovehoney released its fourth EP entitled Cruda this past spring. The Brooklyn-based band is a loud, gritty, blues-oriented rock band that is straight out of your dad’s vinyl collection. Lead guitarist Tommy White joins us this week to discuss Cruda, performing with King DMC of Run DMC, and the Brooklyn music scene in general.
Inspired by that “classic vinyl” sound of yesteryear, Lovehoney is somewhat of a rarity in today’s rock ‘n’ roll scene. They are a combination of Howlin’ Wolf mixed with Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, and the Black Keys, with a little Jack White sprinkled on top.
Tommy White, along with his bandmates, are students of classic rock and the blues, which is put on display through Lovehoney’s music and their live performances. When Lovehoney comes on stage, they are blasting loud, dirty riffs, all the while rocking vintage fur coats. It is like a time machine when back to Brooklyn, circa 1975.
As for now, Lovehoney is primarily touring the New York area, but plans to hit the road soon. Likewise, they hope to release a double-EP within the next few months. Stay tuned for both in 2020.
