Key Music Moments this Decade
Hard to believe we are on the brink of the Roarin’ 20s. Much has changed in music within the past decade. Everything from the Spotify empire, to the resurgence of vinyl records, to corporate greed of Ticketmaster bot scalpers.
Lest we forget the passings of so many legendary musicians this decade, with the likes of Prince, David Bowie, Tom Petty, Chester Bennington, and Chris Cornell, to name a few. Iconic musicians whose music we will cherish forever.
Regardless, each moment played a key role in shaping the musical realm this decade.
On this week’s On the Rocks, Mark Radlund dives deep into these key moments that help mold this decade musically. How massive has Spotify actually gotten? Can any other streaming service compete with them? On the polar opposite spectrum in terms of music consumption, vinyl records made a huge comeback in the 2010s. How did this come to be? Will this vinyl renaissance occur throughout the next decade?
Also, let’s not forget the ongoing War on Ticketmaster many fans are currently fighting, including Mark. This decade, Ticketmaster got in bed with ticket scalping bots and ramped up their fees quicker than auction sale. How did we get here and what has to change? Will the next ten years see improvement in rewarding fans with reasonable ticket prices, or will the pirates at Ticketmaster continue to gouge fans for every penny with outrageous fees?
Join Mark as he reflects on all of these moments and issues on this episode of On the Rocks.
