Earl Skakel got his start in comedy nearly twenty years ago. His start in Los Angeles, the cut-throat mecca of entertainment, is uncommon for most, but Earl’s love for comedy kept him going. Before Earl got his start as a comedian, he was a personal trainer. His friends and coworkers saw the potential Earl had and all pushed him to pursue comedy.
Fast-forward to today and Earl has seen success as a comedian. He worked his way up the ranks, earning a weekly set time at The Comedy Store.
The Comedy Store is a comedy club in West Hollywood. Earl performs on the same stage that a number comedy legends have such as Chris Rock, Andy Kaufman, Jerry Seinfeld, George Carlin, Jim Carrey, Eddie Murphy, and Robin Williams.
As his career has progressed, Earl has earned several spots on notable television shows. These include Comedy Centeral’s Jeff Ross Presents Roast Battle, Adult Swim’s The Jellies!, and Showtime’s I’m Dying Up Here.
Skakel also finds time to produce a podcast. Inappropirate Earl started over six years ago where he interviews comics, musicians, and discusses all things from his favorite decade, the ’80s.
I Love The ’80s
As a child of the ’80s, Earl’s love for heavy metal and action movies can’t be understated. His stand-up sets incorporate elements of the most influential years of his life growing up listening to Ratt, and watching stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone, and Jean-Claude Van Damme.
Of course, here at Super Metal World, we have nothing but love for the 1980s. The movies were exciting and explosive. The music was even better.
