Nige Rockett, guitarist of thrash band Onslaught, joins us to discuss the bands new album Generation Antichrist.
Generation Antichrist will be available August 7, 2020.
Nige and I had a nice chat about the new album, Generation Antichrist. This will be the band’s first release since 2013’s VI. It is also the first album to feature David Garnett on vocals. Dave replaced longtime vocalist, Sy Keeler. We do dig into what Dave brings to the table and why Sy left the band. Along with this, we also discuss the themes of the album and the lyrical inspiration, digging into topics of religion and politics. Lastly, we discuss what it was like to record an album during a pandemic. The band worked with fame metal producer, Daniel Bergstrand, during the mixing of the album. However, all of this was done over the internet due to COVID-19.
I also had the pleasure of asking Nige these off the wall questions:
- Depending who you ask, thrash has been around for close to 40 years, how do you keep a thrash song sounding fresh in 2020?
- Two part question, other than Onslaught, who would you say is your favorite thrash band? Favorite metal band of all time?
- What keeps you busy outside of music?
- How do you write? Are you classically trained or do you put together what you think sounds badass?
Get the answers to these questions and much more by listening/watching the episode! Thanks again for joining, Nige!
