Caligula’s Horse Rise Radiant with Guitarist Sam Vallen

Caligula’s Horse Release Rise Radiant

Sam Vallen from Caligula’s Horse joins us on the podcast to discuss the band’s latest release, Rise Radiant. The album is the band’s 5th LP and is available on May 22, 2020 through Inside Out Music.

Caligula’s Horse is a progressive metal band from Brisbane, Australia. Sam Vallen (guitarist, song writer, and producer) joins us to discuss the songwriting process and a number of other aspects about the creation of the record.

An interesting piece to the Caligula’s Horse story is the fact that Sam has a doctorate in music. Now we all know that you don’t need a Ph.D. to create amazing music, but in this band’s case it probably doesn’t hurt. Rise Radiant is a complex album. Its odd timings and occasionally foreign rhythms keep the listeners attention. Certainly the members are thankful for Sam‘s expertise.

One of first things you’ll notice about the album is the art. It’s a bright, beautiful painting of a buck in a mountainous landscape. The art is striking and, to be frank, “un-metal.” Sam gets into the meaning behind the art and why it was chosen.
