Godthrymm Vocalist Hamish Glencross

Godthrymm

Godthrymm vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter Hamish Glencross joins us to discuss the band’s debut album, Reflections! The album was released on February, 14 2020 through Profound Lore Records!

The band was formed thanks to a simple jam session with Hamish and Shaun Taylor-Steels. The two ended up with material that they decided was worthy of recording. The doomy sounds of Reflections were born.

Hamish states that two of the goals for the album were to write “standout riffs” and create “unique character.” Reflections is rooted in classic doom, but Hamish‘s goals were met. You’ll hear heavy riffs in tracks like “Cursed are the Many” and dynamic layering in tracks like “The Grand Reclamation.”

This episode contains three songs from Reflections: “The Grand Reclamation,” “We are the Dead,” and “Cursed are the Many.”

You can find Godthrymm on their website, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter! Check out their label, Profound Lore Records, on their website and Bandcamp!

Taken from Bandcamp…”With their debut album “Reflections”, GODTHRYMM have unleashed a colossal slab of heavy, mournful, yet pounding traditional doom that harks back to the classic era of ‘90s UK doom/Peaceville Records. A massive step up from the debut EP, “Reflections” is the result of Glencross taking GODTHRYMM further into the realm of doom into more darker, melancholic, and towering realms. Through Glencross’ soaring passionate vocals complimenting his powerful riffs along with Steels’ thunderous percussion giving the GODTHRYMM rhythm section that massive glorious tone, “Reflections” is a testament to the glory days of UK doom while making its statement as a new force of modern day doom metal to behold.”
